Unleash Your Child's Inner Soccer Star: All About Blair FC's Academy Program!
What is Academy?
Calling all aspiring young athletes! Blair FC's Academy program is designed to be the perfect introduction to the exciting world of soccer for children between the ages of 3 and 8. Here, the emphasis is on fun and development, with players grouped based on their birth year into co-ed (mixed gender) teams for U3/U4 (ages 3-4) and U5/U6 (ages 5-6), and then separated into boys' and girls' teams for U7/U8 (ages 7-8).
The Academy program isn't about winning or losing, it's about fostering a love for the game! Through engaging games and practices, your child will:
- Develop age-appropriate soccer skills: Our experienced coaches will guide your child as they learn the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, and footwork in a way that's tailored for their age group.
- Become comfortable with the ball: Practice sessions and scrimmages provide plenty of opportunities to get comfortable handling the ball, building confidence, and mastering basic techniques.
- Most importantly, have a blast! We believe that learning should be fun! Our Academy program is designed to keep young players engaged and excited about coming back for more.
When and How Long is the Season?
The Academy program offers two seasons per year: Fall and Spring. Each season consists of 7 weeks of instruction, providing a focused learning experience without an overwhelming commitment.
The Fall 2024 season kicks off the week of August 12th and wraps up by the first week of October. For Spring 2025, the season starts around March 29th and concludes in mid-May (keep in mind these dates might be adjusted slightly).
Approximately two weeks before the season begins, you'll receive notification about your child's team placement. The Academy Coordinator will be in touch beforehand to answer any questions and provide important information about team formation (you can reach them at registrar@blairfc.com).
What's Included and What are the Costs?
The Academy program fees cover the cost of instruction and participation for the entire soccer year (both Fall and Spring seasons). However, you have the flexibility to register for just one season if that better suits your needs.
Here's a breakdown of the program format, costs, and what's included for each age group:
U3/U4 (2021-2022 birth years) & U5/U6 (2019-2020 birth years):
- Format: Fun co-ed teams that play on Saturday mornings from 9:45 to 10:45 am. Each session is divided into 30 minutes of practice followed by a 30-minute scrimmage.
- Cost: $150 for the full soccer year, or $85 for one season only. A reversible jersey is required for participation, and costs $20 if you don't already have one.
U7/U8 (2017-2018 birth years):
- Format: Teams are separated into boys' or girls' teams. Practices are held on Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 7:00 pm (40 minutes of practice followed by a 20-minute scrimmage). Games are played on Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 am (with a 15-minute warm-up and a 45-minute game).
- Cost: $160 for the full soccer year, or $90 for one season only. A reversible jersey is required for participation, and costs $20 if you don't already have one.
